Florida Hospital opens urgent care clinic in Port Orange

The Daytona Beach News-JournalFlorida Hospital opened its first Centra Care urgent care clinic in Volusia County on Thursday with the goal of taking care of colds, bruises and other minor ailments in 60 minutes or less.

The not-for-profit health system, which has five hospitals in the Volusia-Flagler area, celebrated the opening with snow cones, face painting and free blood-pressure screenings.

The clinic on Dunlawton Avenue in Port Orange will make it more convenient for residents and tourists to have minor health issues addressed, said Dr. Tim Hendrix, Centra Care’s medical director.

“We’ve learned we don’t have enough family doctors in Central Florida, and we’ve never have,” Hendrix said. “It’s always going to be a need. We are there to help out and see those patients who aren’t established with a doctor or can’t get in to see their doctor.”[Read full story]
